Al castillo de Chirel llegamos después de que las primeras rampas hayan sosegado al más animoso de los visitantes.
Ya con el ánimo más templado; un camino estrecho y serpenteante nos conduce por lo que un dia no muy lejano fue un extenso pinar y hoy seria el escenario más idílico para el más exigente de los ascetas. Parecemos acercarnos al destierro; a lo que parece naturaleza muerta.
La geometría clara de la torre del homenaje nos recibe esgrimiendo su orgulloso, y aun consolidado porte.
Chirel te inocula casi al instante un efecto de complicidad que nos hará al momento introducirnos al culto al silencio y a la historia.
Sus muros nos irán desgranando un sinfín de odiseas pletóricas de luchas y un sinfín de leyendas de asentamientos de culturas y de hombres.
Deambulando a su alrededor, una lengua de tierra nos conduce al mismo nivel que el abismo; donde solo las cabras montesas se atreven a desafiar la roca siempre vertical, de sus paredes inacabables y desnudas.
Siempre acompañados por el vértigo, contemplamos a nuestros pies un placentero paisaje fluvial. Por la impresionante garganta, sestea el Jucar. Un río calificado otrora “el destructor” que por aquí languidece ahora ya represado.
Un atronador zumbido nos substrae del letargo; es el impresionante picado de un halcón peregrino; nos devuelve a la realidad; se hace tarde. Emprendemos la vuelta; y mientras descendemos, una duda va royendo nuestra conciencia. ¿Cual será el futuro del castillo? ¿Podrán sus murallas aguantar otros quinientos años de olvido, de ingratitud y de indiferencia?.

Como la ruta del castillo es corta, decidimos acercarnos a Cortes de Pallas y hacer el SLV-13. Ruta corta, pero espectacular. La subida hasta la Muela de Cortes a través de un camino serpenteante es realmente digna de visitar. Las vistas sobre el pueblo y el embalse del Júcar, son impresionantes. La bajada la haremos por el paso de la Franca. Para observar el salto de agua del Corbinet, tendremos que pasar al otro lado del Arroyo.
No seria una ruta completa si no la acabáramos con una esplendida comida en Venta Gaeta.
